Smyths Bar & d’Icon Nightclub will reopen this September under new management. The famous, award-winning venue has had the city wondering if they will ever have the chance to dance the night away again, but now we can rejoice as it has been officially confirmed that the doors are opening, and the dancefloor will be ready for patrons this Autumn.

Doors closed in March 2020 due to Covid-19, but d’Icon is being brought back to life under a skilful new team who are thrilled to bring nightlife back to the people of Limerick.

Smyths Bar is making its upcoming presence known through their Instagram, with a post of the renovated bar saying, “It was all a dream.”

After closing for three years, fans of the nightclub are getting prepared to party again. Many social media users are sharing their excitement online, with Facebook users saying, “Guess we need to dust off our dancing shoes”, “It’s looking like it’s about time now, Monday club will be back with a bang,” and “€20 bull rounds and Backstreet Boys on the bottom dancefloor can’t be bet.”

D’Icon are currently recruiting, with lots of positions to be filled over the coming weeks. The club is delighted to be able to hire local talent, filling roles for DJs, security as well as bar and floor staff.

A great night out will include live music in Smyth’s Bar, with talented musicians that will truly entertain customers. Great cocktails and popular drinks will be served, before d’Icon opens its doors to continue partying the night away. With great plans in the works for nightly events and themed parties, the venue will be for over 20’s with bespoke private parties and functions catered for.

The new management of the nightclub said, “We are looking forward to welcoming people again after such a long time. We are eager to work with our Limerick community and businesses to start bringing people back to Limerick for all-around fun. It’s going to be fantastic, we are so excited to open the doors. Keep your eyes on social media over the coming weeks to find out about the big opening party – we will certainly be making up for lost time.”
