Soldier Field comes to UCH Limerick for special showing on October 31
Soldier Field makes an epic return to the UCH Limerick this October 31, in time to honour the 52nd birthday of Anthony Foley

The hugely popular Soldier Field is coming to its’ spiritual home, Munster, as the play takes the University Concert Hall stage this October 31, 2025.
This Halloween, Soldier Field makes an epic return to Limerick, just in time to honour Anthony Foley’s birthday. He would have turned 52 on October 30.
In October 2016, Munster and Ireland legend, Anthony Foley, tragically died in Paris. ‘Axel’, who captained Munster to their first-ever Heineken Cup triumph, died of a cardiac myopathy on the morning his province was due to play Racing 92, in the same competition.
A week after Foley’s death, and the day after his funeral in Killaloe, County Clare, his players took to the field at Thomond Park, defeated Glasgow Warriors and gave him a rousing send-off. Less than a month after the tragedy, four Munster players took their place at the front of a figure of 8 tribute as Ireland faced down a fearsome All Blacks Haka, at Soldier Field.
It’s the night before Ireland take on the All Blacks — the rematch of Soldier Field, Chicago. This play captures it all — the passion, the legacy, the spirit of rugby and the soul of a man. Whether you’re a rugby fan or a lover of powerful theatre, this one’s for you.
The play is brought to life by the Sallins Dramatic Society, a group from Kildare known for their powerful and engaging productions. Having received standing ovations and critical acclaim during previous performances, the Society is thrilled to bring the play to Limerick, where it will resonate deeply with local rugby supporters.

Speaking about the upcoming show, Orla Foley, Anthony’s younger sister, said, “Get your tickets now for ‘Soldier Field’ – a powerful and emotional tribute play that celebrates the life and legacy of my brother, Anthony Foley.”
She noted all proceeds will support “three amazing causes close to our hearts”, with funds raised going to CRY Ireland, The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, and IRFU Charitable Trust.
Orla added, “Let’s pack the seats and keep Anthony’s spirit alive while raising funds for vital supports.”
