Limerick volunteer Brian O’Callaghan became involved with Special Olympics after the birth of his son, Padraig: “I’ve made lifelong friends, the Special Olympics family is very strong and the bond between all the volunteers is amazing. Disability should not mean inability and it’s up to each and every one of us to enable these athletes to reach their true potential.”

Special Olympics Ireland is first and formost a sports rganistion for people with intellectual disabilities. However it provides athletes with far more than physical benefits of sport. Special Olympics Ireland is about fun, friendships and team spirit. It is about a  feeling of belonging and ultimately improving quality of life. To help continue their support to people with intellectual disabilities, Special Olympics Ireland need people to et involved on April 22.
