SRC Summer Camps are back and Shannon Rowing Club will be running three Rowing Camps for Boys and Girls age 11 to 16, from June 28-July 1, July 5-8 and July 12-15.

They are hoping the autumn season will get off to a good start with the resumption of some small local regattas and possibly a limited Irish Championships. But for now it’s all systems go at their wonderful rowing facility in Annacotty where they will be running three Rowing Camps for Boys and Girls age 11 to 16, from June 28-July 1, July 5-8 and July 12-15.

The camps start at 10 am and finish at 1.30pm each day from Monday to Thursday. These camps will be suitable for those with absolutely no rowing experience or those within their first year or two of starting rowing. However some swimming ability is essential. 

Shannon Rowing Club is a relatively small club, where everybody gets a chance to train and compete. It is also the oldest rowing club in Limerick, with a beautiful Edwardian Clubhouse on Sarsfield Bridge, providing the facilities for indoor training right in the city centre. On weekends their activities move to Annacotty, where they have built a state of the art boathouse and avail of a fantastic stretch of water.  Annacotty is ideal for rowing: it is sheltered and non-tidal, enabling weekend and summer training at a set time, while providing greater safety for their members.

Best of all there are no 5am starts on cold winter mornings. Lifelong bonds and friendships among club members are formed through training and competing together. Many of Shannon’s oars-people have gone on to row for their colleges and for Ireland. Shannon has also had great success at Irish regattas over the years and is looking forward to building on that again, very soon.

Based on Sarsfield Bridge, Shannon Rowing Club is the oldest rowing Club in Limerick City and one of the oldest in the country. Founded in 1866 by Sir Peter Tait, the club sits on a manmade island and possesses some of the finest function rooms in the city with panoramic views over King John’s Castle, St Mary’s Cathedral and the magnificent Shannon River.

At this Sarsfield Bridge location, they offer junior rowers mid-week gym, bike, and rowing machine work in their fully equipped gymnasium, as well as providing kettlebells classes, pilates and weights.
