Shannon Region Conference and Sports Bureau (SRCSB) have honoured three individuals whose collective contributions have devoted more than 50 years to the bureau. Outgoing Chair Tony Brazil, outgoing Director Donnacha Hurley, and outgoing Company Secretary and Director Sean Lally were recognised by the SRCSB for their dedication, input, and impact on the group and the wider tourism industry in the region.

Sean Lally’s connection to the bureau stretches back to its very inception having first encountered the bureau’s operations on September 1, 2003, Donnacha Hurley joined the team in 2009, and Tony Brazil’s guidance had seen the group rebrand in 2011.

Karen Ronan, SRCSB General Manager said, “It has been an honour to work with these 3 incredible tourism industry stalwarts.”

The General Manager paid tribute to the outgoing members, saying, “Sean met me on September 1st 2003 when I arrived for my first day at Limerick Chamber offices to the newly formed Meet Limerick Shannon Conference and Sports Bureau. Sean has remained a constant source of support these last 21 years.

“Donnacha joined our board in 2009 and brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to our operations and continues to encourage and motivate all around him daily.

“Under Tony’s stewardship our bureau has gone from strength to strength changing our brand and moving from a regional tourism setting in Shannon Development (2011) to working in partnership with Fáilte Ireland to the present day.”

The contributions of the three members helped significantly shape the Shannon Region’s tourism industry through their work with SRCSB as well as their own businesses, with the group creating a €150M economic impact for Shannon Region over its 20 years.

Speaking on behalf of the bureau board, Ms Ronan expressed deep gratitude, saying “It has been an honour to work with these three incredible tourism industry stalwarts. On behalf of the entire bureau board: Thank you for your service to Irelands Shannon Region and The Business and Sports Tourism Industry.”
