St. Gabriel’s are moving their fundraising efforts off land and into the water! The Swim for a Mile Challenge takes place on April 5 2016 and a number of swimmers will complete 32 lengths of the pool to raise funds for the worthwhile cause.  St Gabriels Swim

St. Gabriel’s School & Centre is a not for profit children’s disability organisation and a registered charity located in Dooradoyle on the south side of Limerick City. St. Gabriel’s School & Centre is dedicated to providing education and a range of essential health-related therapies and clinical intervention programmes to more than 500 children and young adults living with physical disabilities, developmental delay or more serious life-limiting conditions. Up to 58 children with special needs attend St. Gabriel’s school each day, while St. Gabriel’s Centre delivers a range of interventions and support services for up to 400 of these children and their families on an outpatient basis. St Gabriels Swim

They work not only with children and their disabilities but also their families and their lives aswell.

St. Gabriel’s is always looking for individuals to help organise our events to raise funds and awareness, volunteers to run existing events or individuals to develope new and creative fundraising ideas.

St. Gabriel’s organises a number of fundraising events and activities throughout the year that you can get involved with for example helping fundraise for the school at the upcoming Swim for a Mile Challenge.

The funds raised by the swimmers for the event will help with the purchase of twenty specialist physiotherapy mats at a cost of over €3,000. These are essential pieces of equipment to allow children with disabilities to move safely reducing the risk of injury during physiotherapy sessions to maintain mobility.

If you are interested in taking part in this event please contact Kate on [email protected].
