St Vincent’s Special School in Lisnagry became a winter wonderland as the school community celebrates the festive season with their annual “12 Days of Christmas” celebrations

St Vincent’s Special School in Lisnagry has transformed into a winter wonderland as the school community comes together to celebrate the festive season with their annual “12 Days of Christmas” celebrations. Filled with joy, creativity, and cherished traditions, these celebrations highlight the school’s spirit of inclusion, creativity, and community.
This year’s festivities kicked off with a visit from none other than Santa Claus and Mrs Claus, who arrived in spectacular style on their sleigh. Every child had the opportunity to meet Santa in his beautifully decorated grotto, where they received a small gift and shared their Christmas wishes. The joy and excitement on the children’s faces reflected the magic of the season.
In the spirit of creativity and collaboration, each class took part in a festive window decorating competition. Classrooms came alive with artistic displays, as students worked together to design and decorate their windows with imaginative Christmas themes. The senior students had the special honor of judging the creations, which brought a friendly and festive atmosphere to the school corridors.
Another heartwarming tradition at St. Vincent’s is the annual Christmas card swap. Students from different classes were paired together to design and exchange handmade cards. This initiative encouraged connection, creativity, and the joy of giving, reinforcing the strong sense of community that defines the school.
Fundraising efforts also played a significant role in this year’s celebrations. The highly anticipated Christmas raffle drew widespread support from families, staff, and local businesses. The funds raised will go directly towards enriching classroom resources and supporting the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to help each student achieve their full potential.

The festivities culminated with the school’s much-loved sponsored river walk, led by Santa Claus himself. This cherished tradition brought together students, staff, parents, and families to walk together in unity, embracing the true spirit of Christmas. The funds raised during this event will provide essential support to the school, ensuring that every child at St. Vincent’s continues to thrive in an environment tailored to their unique needs.
Principal Bridanne O Callaghan shared their appreciation for the community’s ongoing support:
“Christmas at St. Vincent’s is truly special. These celebrations are not just about festive fun—they’re about fostering connection, creativity, and community. Our traditions, like the river walk and card swap, bring us closer together; while fundraising efforts allow us to continue providing the best possible environment for our incredible students. Thank you to everyone who made this season so magical.”
