Stephen O’Connor is remembered for his “warmth, kindness, and infectious sense of humour” by his colleagues and friends at Limerick Strand Hotel following the sad news of his passing.

Stephen passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Milford Care Centre and is remembered by his wife and best friend, Eveanna. He is the dearly loved son of Maeve and the late Pat and cherished brother of Elizabeth. 

Stephen will be sadly missed and remembered with love by his family, uncles, aunts, cousins, Eveanna’s son Cillian, work colleagues and customers at The Strand Hotel and his large circle of friends.

Limerick Strand Hotel led tributes to Stephen, saying, “Stephen was so much more than our General Manager. He was the heart of our team, a true leader, a mentor, and a friend to so many. His warmth, kindness, and infectious sense of humour made everyone feel welcome, whether they were a guest walking through our doors or a colleague working alongside him.

“He was deeply respected, immensely admired, and genuinely loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Stephen led with compassion, integrity, and unwavering dedication, always putting people first and inspiring those around him to be their very best.”

Stephen was a respected member of the hospitality industry, served as Chair of the Shannon Region Conference & Sports Bureau, and was the incoming President of Limerick Central Rotary.

The Limerick Strand added, “The impact he had on our hotel, our team, and our guests is impossible to put into words. He leaves behind not only an incredible professional legacy but also countless memories, friendships, and moments that we will treasure forever.

“Stephen will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with his wife Eveanna, his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Reposing at Hammel’s Funeral Home, Kilmuckridge (Y25 C9T3) on Tuesday (7th July) from 4pm, concluding with Prayers at 7.30pm.

Funeral arriving to St. Mary’s Church, Kilmuckridge, on Wednesday for Funeral Mass at 12 noon, followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.
