Catalyst International Film Festival has announced a Stories From Palestine Short Film Programme set to take place on Friday, April 24, from 8 pm

Catalyst International Film Festival has announced a ‘Stories From Palestine Short Film Programme’ will come to the Belltable on Friday, April 24, bringing six short films to Limerick audiences.

Catalyst International Film Festival organisers said of the short films on show, “A powerful collection of short films offering intimate, human stories from Palestine and its disapora, told through resilience, creativity, family, and everyday acts of endurance.”

The festival also announced special guest Dua Ahmed from Gaza will be joining Catalyst for the screenings on the evening, saying they “will be with us on the night to share a few words ahead of the screening”.

The short films listed for the evening are ‘EveryDay in Gaza’ Directed by Omar Rammal, a quiet, intimate portrait of daily life and care amid uncertainty; ‘Adas Falasteen’ Directed by Hamdi Khalil Elhusseini and Samar Taher Lulu, a chef transforms cooking into an act of hope and resistance; and ‘The Art of Resistance: The Art of Sumud’ directed by Bonnie Boyle, reflections on steadfast resilience and the historical connections between Palestine and Ireland.

The three other screenings include ‘Gaza’s Patient Heart’ by director Mo’men Ghanim Hasanain, depicting a family’s journey for medical care, which reveals profound strength and love; ‘Hodoud’ directed by Samar Taher Lulu and Hamdi Khalil Elhusseini, a story of separation, distance, and childhood shaped by borders; and ‘COYOTES’ Directed by Said Zagha, a late-night journey through the West Bank becomes a life-altering experience.

Tickets are availble now for the special screening set to take place on Friday, April 24 at Belltable, Limerick, with early booking advised, with tickets priced ar €8 and available online.

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
