Limerick’s Strange Boy releases his powerful new single “God Help Him (Seemingly He Didn’t)” a poetic piece which stays true to his style blending tradition and beats

Renowned Irish artist Strange Boy (aka Jordan McNally Kelly) has released his powerful new single, “God Help Him (Seemingly He Didn’t),” on Thursday, 24th October 2024.
The track is the first from his much-anticipated second album, ‘Say Nothin’, produced by Enda Gallery. Known for his unique fusion of Irish traditional music with modern hip-hop, Strange Boy’s lyrical introspection and musical innovation are fully on display in this release.
A haunting melody opens ‘God Help Him (seemingly He Didn’t)’ before Strange Boy kicks in with vocals that bridge rap and spoken word, met with harmonised backing vocals like a polished version of Joe Heaney keening.
It’s difficult not to pay attention to Strange Boy’s new single when you play it; as minimal as it is in composition the beauty of the music and backing vocals keeps your attention while you take in the powerful lyrics.
Speaking about the new album in an Instagram post, Strange Boy said, “As I begin the process of releasing my next album I can only hope it goes out into the world with the same intention that it came into it with, mainly appreciation, few heads that aren’t around anymore that would of enjoyed a few tracks off this next one.”
To celebrate the upcoming album, Strange Boy is offering an exclusive album preview concert on 15th December 2024 at The Commercial, Limerick. This intimate, pre-release event will feature a full live performance of the album before final recordings commence in the studio.
It’s a chance for fans to experience the unreleased music firsthand, in a raw and vulnerable setting. With only two dates announced, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear Say Nothin’ before its official 2025 release.
Described as a titanic project by Strange Boy, the album continues his legacy as a truth-seeker and truth-speaker, combining his poetic Limerick accent with themes of personal growth and cultural identity. His distinct blend of Irish traditions with contemporary beats speaks to both the resilience and complexity of urban youth in Ireland.
In addition to the Limerick preview, Strange Boy performed at the WOMEX Conference on 24th October 2024, debuting new tracks for an international audience.
