Limerick’s King John’s Castle and Thomond Stadium will host a dozen live concerts for summer 2026, bringing global artists to the Treaty City stages

Limerick City will bring a blockbuster of concerts to Thomond Stadium and the county’s most Instagrammed site, the historic King John’s Castle, with global stars of music taking to the stages throughout May, June, and July for an action-packed summer 2026.

The concert season opens with a sold-out show where legendary British synth-pop pioneers The Human League will get Live at the Castle underway on Saturday, May 2, for what promises to be a summer of diverse performances. Known for classics such as Don’t You Want Me and Love Action, the Sheffield band were among the earliest acts to bring synthesizers and electronic rhythms into the pop mainstream, and are joined by special guests Cry Before Dawn.

Local favourites, Hermitage Green, will grace the iconic stage the following day, Sunday, May 3, to celebrate their 15-year anniversary with a special hometown concert at the castle. The band have built a strong following over their career both locally and internationally. The special homecoming performance is the perfect way to mark the incredible milestone.

The May Bank Holiday weekend will also feature a colourful family-friendly event when a sold-out K-Pop Superslayers Live brings a spectacular tribute show to the venue on Monday, May 4 from 5pm to 8pm.

Later in the month, The Coronas make their return to Limerick on Friday, May 29, renowned for being one of the best live acts in the country, the band have been headlining big shows and festivals in Ireland for over 15 years, the band get a busy June period underway at King John’s Castle.

The next night, Saturday, May 30, Irish rock legends, The Stunning, return with new music, renewed global attention and a reputation as one of Ireland’s finest live acts, The Stunning continue to captivate audiences old and new.

Following the The Stunning, influential rock band Pixies make their Limerick debut with two back-to-back sold-out shows on Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1. The concert forms part of the band’s 40th anniversary world tour, celebrating four decades since their formation in 1986.

June will see Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James take to the castle stage on Friday, June 5, Few singer-songwriters are so able to capture the stuff of our intimate lives – love, heartache, loss, joy – like Gavin James.

Saturday, June 6, sees the return of Bell X1 to the King John’s Castle stage, the Kildare rockers bring their signature sound to Limerick audiences for what always promises an incredible gig.

K-Pop Superslayers Live make a second appearance of the summer on Sunday, June 7 due to the high demand for their performance earlier in the calendar.

The King John’s Castle summer programme will conclude with a special performance from the Patti Smith Quartet on Tuesday, July 14. The influential poet, songwriter and performer will mark the enduring legacy of her landmark 1975 album Horses during the show.

While live music is pumping out at the Castle throughout the summer, another iconic Limerick venue, Thomond Park Stadium, brings an equally measurable collection of concerts that are sure to draw crows from across the country and beyond with globally renowned artists taking to the stage.

Over a remarkable two-week stretch, global superstars from pop, rock, country, and dance will take to the stage, transforming the iconic venue into one of Ireland’s hottest music destinations.

Kicking off on Friday, June 26, Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi brings a sold-out show to the stage, proving the enormous demand to see the chart-topping star live in Limerick.

The following night, Saturday, June 27, a different atmosphere will take over Thomond as Florence + The Machine arrive with their highly anticipated ‘Everybody Scream’ Tour 2026.

On Sunday, June 28, the tone shifts again as smooth-voiced crooner Michael Bublé brings his world-class show to the stadium for what is one of the most-anticipated concerts in Limerick for the summer.

Showing the diversity of Limerick’s love for music, Wednesday, July 1 sees Grammy-winning band Kings of Leon arrive as the group behind stadium anthems like Sex on Fire, Use Somebody, and Waste a Moment will bring their signature sound to Thomond Park.

Country-pop legend Shania Twain will then take to the iconic venue with a headline show on Tuesday, July 7 as the five-time Grammy Award winner will perform her only Irish concert of 2026.

Finally, the party reaches full volume on Tuesday, July 8, when Mr Worldwide, Pitbull, will bring his high-energy show packed with dancefloor favourites to the Limerick stage, as his followers, affectionately known as “baldies”, will party on to tracks such as Give Me Everything, Timber, Fireball, and Hotel Room Service.
