Limerick Printmakers is delighted to take bookings for a range of age-specific Summer Camps running on a weekly basis throughout July and for the first two weeks of August. Last summer over 70 children participated in the Summer Workshops!
Summer Workshops have been part of Limerick Printmakers educational programming for over 15 years. This hugely popular programme has supported children in developing a variety of skills including printmaking, painting, craft and 3D work in a diverse range of media all while making new friends in a supportive environment.
Full details of the Print Workshops as follows:
Camp 1: 9th – 13th July
4 – 7 yrs / 10am – 1pm
Fee: €85
Led by experienced LP teacher Fiona Sherlock, participants with play a fun dice game to make art monsters, paint doodles and mandala squares, mould animal pinch pots and collage a Totem creature. Fiona will draw on inspiration from Miro, Picasso, Kandinsky and Seurat with these activities encouraging children to express themselves, learn about art and use a variety of interesting and exciting materials to create their own artworks.
Camp 2: 16th – 20th July
8 – 12 yrs / 10am – 2pm
Fee: €100
Join experienced LP teacher Kate McElligott to learn about geometric shapes, stained glass painting, drawing from observation and monoprinting. Taking inspiration from artists Picasso and James Early participants will work in the media including painting, drawing, printmaking, and clay showcasing their creations in a mini-exhibition at the end of the week.
Camp 3: 23rd – 27th July
4 – 7 yrs / 10am – 1pm
Fee: €85Through hands-on art and craft projects teacher Rachel Lynch will encourage participants to create work based on the themes of ‘Under the Sea’, ‘At the Seaside’, ‘Music’, ‘Gifts’ and ‘Nature’. Using buttons to create fish, clay to make treasure chests and recyclable materials to make musical instruments participants will have an array of artwork to decorate their homes at the end of the week!
Camp 4: 30th July – 3rd Aug
4 – 7 yrs / 10am – 1pm
Fee: €85
This week’s camp with teacher Kerri – Mai Fitzgerald will teach children to paint in the style of Pointillism, develop forms in clay, construct in 3D using various materials and make a Hawaiian Lei. Participants will also learn printmaking techniques and part-take in the fun exercise of ‘advertising’ a friend!
Camp 5: 7th – 10th Aug
13 – 17 yrs / 10am – 2:30pm
Fee: €100
Experienced artist and print tutor Jonathan Curran will lead and facilitate this four-day workshop series aimed exclusively at young adults that will encompass multiple exciting forms of printmaking including monotype, rollup, drypoint, chine-collè, cyanotype and silkscreen.
Demonstrations in each method will be followed by hands-on workshops that will provide a unique opportunity for young adults passionate about art to experience various styles of printmaking in Limerick Printmakers professional standard studio. These workshops are ideal for students eager to make new work and strengthen their talents while learning new techniques that are rarely covered in the secondary school curriculum.
Participants will be encouraged to develop their own ideas, design and print with multiple layers, experiment and combine print techniques and produce artwork in a variety of media. Workshops promises to be an engaging week of printmaking for young adults who love art and design!
This series of printmaking summer workshops for young adults has a very limited intake to ensure individual attention and one to one technical support for all participants throughout the week.
Camp 6: 13th – 17th Aug
8 – 12 yrs / 10am – 2pm
Fee: € 100
Fiona Sherlock is back for a second week of camp at LP and we can’t wait to see what participants will create using botanical images and foil plate printmaking as well as create Notan designs, Picasso portraits and Cubist masks.
Limerick Printmakers Summer Camps are a great opportunity for the children to work with professional artists and teachers in furthering their creativity, using their imagination and being resourceful in a fun and relaxed environment.
