Team Limerick Cleanup 4 takes place on Good Friday with 18,500 volunteers taking part

Next Friday, March 16 is the final date for signups for the fourth annual Team Limerick Cleanup, and people are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible for Team Limerick Cleanup 4 which will take place Good Friday, March 30.

A massive 9,000 volunteers are have said to signed up for Team Limerick Cleanup 4 at the end of February. Last year, 17,000 people took to the streets of Limerick City and County to take part in the third annual Limerick City cleanup.

Team Limerick Cleanup 4, or TLC 4 as it is abbreviated to was launched in Newcastle West by former Irish rugby player, and former captain of Munster and Ireland, Paul O’Connell last January. The former rugby player was joined by Mayor Stephen Keary and pupils from Scoil Iosaf Girls’ NS at the Red Door Gallery, Newcastle West for the launch.

In celebration of the launch of Team Limerick Cleanup 4, primary schools across Limerick City and County were invited to take part in a Valentine’s Day competition. The winners of the competition were announced at the Hunt Museum during February.

Speaking about the competition, Team Limerick Cleanup 4 ambassador Paul O’Connell said, “It was fantastic to see so many schools take part in the competition, which helped raise awareness of the fourth year of the Team Limerick Cleanup. I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to register and join us on Good Friday.”

The cleanup is supported by the JP McManus Foundation, speaking at last year’s cleanup, McManus said it was a great initiative, and spoke of how it was lovely to see so many people participating in cleaning up the city and surrounding areas of Limerick.
