MyMind Centre for Mental Wellbeing and the Asthma Society of Ireland are two teams that have joined for SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon.

The charities have teamed up to challenge the stigma surrounding physical and mental health and to promote wellbeing through exercise. More than 14,000 runners are expected to lace up for the Marathon on Bank Holiday Monday, October 26th next and entry is open now at the SSE airtricity Dublin Marathon website, available below.

This joint initiative is driven by a mutual belief that everyone has the right to physical and mental wellbeing and to enjoy life to the fullest without stigma.

You don’t have to be a champion runner to support the charities. You can help someone train or fund-raise or donate to the charities directly.

The work that MyMind and the ASI do is aimed at improving lives and providing support whenever it’s needed. Both organisations work to empower people to improve their own wellbeing.

MyMind believes that everyone has the right to access mental health supports when they need them and provides counselling, wellbeing and psychotherapy services in more than 10 languages either online, face to face or in the workplace.

MyMind charges are based upon employment status, allowing the unemployed or full-time students to access services at vastly reduced rates. In addition, revenue generated from full free clients is reinvested, enabling MyMind to provide affordable services to all.

The Asthma Society of Ireland (ASI) is the national charity dedicated to empowering Ireland’s 470,000 people with asthma to take control of their asthma by providing them and their families with information, education, services and support. ASI is focused on representing people with asthma and working to improve their health outcomes.

CEO and founder of MyMind Krystian Fikert said, “MyMind is delighted to team up with the Asthma Society to promote positive wellbeing and highlight the important links between physical and mental health.

“Mental and physical health difficulties can affect any one of us at any time in life, and the work that we do is aimed at removing the barriers to health and empowering all people to take control of their own wellbeing.”

CEO of ASI Sharon Cosgrove said: “The Asthma Society is delighted to partner up with MyMind for the SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon to highlight the importance of both health and wellbeing for people living with a chronic disease like asthma.”
