If you go down to the woods today you’re in for a big surprise as Theatre Lovett brings Teddy Bears’ Picnic to the Belltable Theatre.

If you go down to the woods today you’re in for a big surprise… A theatrical treat for children aged 5+ and everyone else is welcome too (especially Teddy Bears)

Theodor is a detective who found Timbuktu and a two-headed llama that lives in Peru. Now Theo’s hot on the trail of the famous teddy bears’ picnic… a tricky puzzle to pick. Join Belltable Theatre and together, try your best to help Theo on this cuddly quest.

Funded by The Arts Council and supported by Riverbank Arts Centre and RTÉ Supporting the Arts, The Teddy Bears’ Picnic is a theatrical treat for children aged 5+ and everyone else is welcome too (Teddy bears are especially welcome!).

Theatre Lovett (TL) love Limerick!  Artistic Directors, Muireann Ahen and Louis Lovett, both have lovely memories there.

Muireann hails from West Limerick so she always looks forward to returning to Limerick city and its environs. She remembers her father Pat buying bags of periwinkles on the streets of Limerick and hopes their friends in Newcastle West and Rathkeale will make it to the Belltable for The Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Louis’ Limerick debut was in the 1990s when Barabbas… the Company’sThe White Headed Boy‘ played at the Belltable. He fondly remembers playing the translator for the visit of Royal de Luxe’s Giant Granny in 2014 and narrating Saint Saens’ The Carnival of the Animals with the national Chamber Orchestra on the Limetree stage. Louis also spent a long time here playing Dieter Langer in Pat Shortt’s Killinaskully.

Theatre Lovett’s most recent visit to Limerick was in 2020 with the opera Hansel and Gretel, a co-production with Irish National Opera and The Abbey Theatre. The walls of the Limetree Theatre wobbled that night with the weight of operatic warbling! Before that it was ‘They Called Her Vivaldi’ at the Belltable which featured actor Julie Maguire who returns again with The Teddy Bears’ Picnic

TL are thrilled to be back, this time with Limerick all-star Ashleigh Dorrell as part of our touring family and our fabulous production manager Lisa Mahony hails from not too far away… the town of Shannon!

Venue: Belltable

Date: Saturday, 18th March

Times: 11am & 1pm
