The GAFF and College Players host rehearsed reading of ‘The Humans’ on July 30

The GAFF collaborate with College Players for a rehearsed reading of Stephen Karam’s The Humans on Thursday, July 30

The GAFF is currently progressing construction on its new space at 30 Lord Edward Street.

The GAFF, in collaboration with the College Players, will host a rehearsed reading of The Humans, a comedy one-act play written by Stephen Karam.

The reading is set to take the stage at The GAFF on 29—30 Lord Edward Street, on Thursday, July 30 at 7:30 pm with tickets available to book online now.

Winner of The Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play 2016, The Humans follows a dysfunctional family as they reunite for a chaotic Thanksgiving dinner. The evening will bring together performers, artists and audiences to celebrate Ireland’s amateur theatre.

The Humans is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals, Ltd. on behalf of Dramatist Play Service. The event is supported by Limerick City and County Council through Twilight Thursday as part of the Night Time Economy programme.

Limerick’s College Players, one of Ireland’s oldest continually performing amateur drama groups, celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026, marking a century of outstanding contribution to the cultural life of Limerick and Irish theatre.

Founded in 1926 by former pupils of St. Munchin’s College, (then located in Henry Street), College Players has remained active through world wars, economic downturns and the COVID-19 pandemic, earning its place as the second-oldest still-performing theatre group in Ireland.

The GAFF is founded on the core principle that artistic engagement and creative activity are fundamental rights for everyone. Our mission is to enrich the lives of artists, communities and audiences in Limerick and the Mid-West through an open and inclusive approach.

With equality, diversity and inclusion as core values, we support multidisciplinary art projects through collaborative practice between artists and some exceptionally marginalised communities. Projects in recent years have included work led by some of Limerick’s leading artists, delivering programmes in collaboration with youth and community groups in Limerick and throughout Munster.
