Limerick’s The Low Field return on Oct 24th, with new single ‘Canyon’ a sharp, self-assured step on from last year’s eponymous LP

Recorded at Sonic Studios in Dublin, ‘Canyon‘ is the first taste of the quartet’s TBA second LP, scheduled for release in early 2026. Engineering & mixing was provided by the groups own Mícheál Keating, with Mastering by Ivan Jackman.
The Low Field formed in Limerick, Ireland, in 2021. Co-led by Danny O’Shea (Deadbog) & Diarmuid O’Shea (Casavettes) on vocals and guitars, with Mícheál Keating & Brendan McInerney (Bleeding Heart Pigeons) making up the rhythm section, they wear the influences of their other projects on their sleeves, whilst incorporating elements of slowcore and experimental rock.
Diarmuid said about the single, “Canyon came together quite quickly compared to some of our other songs. I recorded a demo as I was writing it and sent it to the rest of the band. The lyrics came out as I recorded, something that hasn’t really happened for me in the past so I decided to leave them as they were. This felt like the truest representation of what I was feeling in that moment.”
Danny added, “We recorded ‘Canyon’ live, as we did with our 2024 album. Recording all instruments at once, in a room together, captures how the songs feel in our heads, and the dynamics and playing off of each other, is a good demonstration of how we want Canyon to be heard.”

Sonically, the band oats between delicate, exploratory moments and loud, cathartic releases that touch on elements of emo, post-rock, and post-hardcore.
The album was recorded over the summer of 2023 in the heart of Limerick City, and was produced/mixed by Mícheál Keating (Bleeding Heart Pigeons), and mastered by Ivan Jackman (Gilla Band, Kevin Godley).
Inspired by the live sounds of albums such as ‘Ground Aswim’ by Sinai Vessel, and the angular grittiness of ‘Some Are Lakes’ by Land of Talk, the band opted to record the instrumentation of the songs all live, together in one room.
The result is a rich and dynamic tapestry for the open lyricism to lean into. The Low Field have played iconic Irish venues such as Dolan’s Warehouse, De Barra’s Clonakilty and The Workman’s, supporting Silverbacks, Junior Brother, whozyerman?, and Windings, as well as a Féile Na Gréine showcase in the Irish Cultural Centre in London in early 2024
