On a personal note, I enjoyed the experience this year, I believe the people of Limerick also enjoy and look forward to coming to the tree and putting the names of loved ones on a ribbon.”

Limerick Thomond Rotary Remembrance Tree 2019 has raised nearly €200,000 for charities since 2009.

Each of the organizations was well represented by a host of volunteers who fundraised for the causes close to their hearts. As part of the annual tradition of the Remembrance Tree, the thousands of ribbons placed on the tree will be commemorated at a special mass, which will be celebrated at 4 pm this Friday, January 3 at the Augustinian Church on O’Connell Street in Limerick.

From November 30 until December 22, 2019, the much-loved Remembrance Tree adorned the top of Bedford Row with its familiar yellow ribbons shining brightly. Supported by Limerick City and County Council, Limerick Thomond Rotary Club enabled thousands to remember their loved ones.

The Remembrance Tree was greatly supported by the wider community in Limerick – including, Northern Trust, Cook Medical, ICHAS, Limerick’s Live 95fm, Augustinians Limerick, The Hands in Harmony Choir, Unity Gospel Choir, The Clef Choir, Limerick Printmakers, Tallybrooke Civil Engineering, and many more.

Ger Lynch, Community Chair, echoed these comments and thanked the wider community support for the 2019 Remembrance Tree. “The Remembrance Tree would not be possible without the fantastic local support which Limerick Thomond Rotary Club receives. The Tree holds a special place for many
and is a project we look forward to continuing for many years to come.”

Limerick Thomond Rotary Club would like to extend a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to attend the mass this Friday, January 3rd at 4 pm in the Augustinian Church on O’Connell Street in Limerick.
