Thomond Primary School Parents Association bingo night fundraiser on Thursday, June 20, to support seven local athletes heading to the ISKA World Championships in Austria
The Thomond Primary School Parents Association hopes to raise funds for seven local athletes heading to the ISKA World Championships in Vienna, Austria, this October by hosting the event at the school hall.
The athletes include Hayleigh Kiely who was crowned ISKA World Champion following her match against Marisha Christie in April this year, the other athletes making up the group are Freya Cribbin, Kyle Williams, Jake O’Shea, Chloe Keogh, Daniel McInerney, and Bradley Prior. The seven athletes will be part of a team Ireland squad picked from clubs all over the country.
Promising a fun-filled evening, the event includes several spot prizes and hampers to be won with entry priced at €10 for a full book and €5 for a half book.
As this is a family-friendly event, children are welcome provided they are accompanied by an adult, ensuring a great evening for all ages.
The funds raised will support seven martial artists from a Limerick-based club on the north side of the city, including both seasoned fighters and promising young talents, with two of the participants being just 14 and 15 years old.
Six of the fighters qualified through a recent event in Derry, while one fighter, Hayleigh Kiely, holds a world title, highlighting the high level of skill and dedication within the group.
This event marks another successful fundraising event organised by Thomond Primary School and the local community following previous bingo nights held to raise funds for local groups and charities.
Hayleigh Kiely told I Love Limerick the athletes were very grateful for the support, she said, “Thomond Primary School have had bingo nights in the past or evenings and it’s been very positive so we’re delighted that they’ve given us this opportunity now to raise funds for myself and six others going.”
Hayleigh explained six of the fighters recently qualified for the World Championships following a competition in Derry, and as the ISKA World Champion she automatically qualifies for the event giving her the opportunity to defend her title.
Thomond Primary School is inviting everyone to the event on Thursday, June 20, to show support for these incredible and dedicated Limerick athletes and to enjoy what promises to be a fantastic family evening.
