Traditional Music and Dance in Milk Market

On Sunday, 15 February, a celebration of Irish traditional music and dance by local Limerick artist of all ages will be held in the Milk Market, Limerick between 1-4pm with free admission.

Cllr. Michael Sheahan, Mayor of the Metropolitan District of Limerick has invited Comhaltas groups from all over LimerickCity and County, World Champion Dancer Niamh O’Brien and the Pat O’Dea set dancers as well as students of Tradtime – the Comhaltas Schools Outreach programme to showcase their work in traditional music and dance in Limerick’s iconic Milk Market on Sunday, February 15th.  Comhaltas branches from Ahane/Castleconnell/Herbertstown, Ardagh, Castletroy, Garryowen  Manistir will be joined by  Fear a’ Tí, Micheál Ó Ríain.

The event will have the atmosphere of a fair with market cafés being open for food and drinks and seating available for everyone. The Mayor specifically wants to celebrate the achievements of our many artists who work on a voluntary basis to preserve our traditional cultural heritage: “As Mayor, I invite you to come along and immerse yourself in the festive mood of what will be a truly memorable and unique occasion, one that will be a wonderful opportunity for everyone to see close up, the hard work and dedication on the part of artists, teachers, students and the many volunteers who keep our important traditions of music and dance alive in our city and county, while at the same time marvel at the combined and varied skills of talented artists who will take to the stage on this day.”
