Every year Transition Year Law Modules Ireland (TYL) runs a fun-filled interactive law day for Transition Year students in all the local schools in Limerick and the surrounding counties.

TYL is a Limerick-based company and they are pioneering the field of legal TY education throughout the Munster Circuit through dedication and commitment to students’ future success. They offer a unique educational experience designed to enhance intellectual growth and promote participant engagement.

They aim to introduce the inside of the Court Room to Transition Year students in an entertaining and student orientated fashion.

Secondary school students contemplating a career in the legal field will benefit greatly from their one-day introduction to the Irish Legal system. Transition Years who participate will participate in a mock trial and learn about the proceedings of a trial, every TY will have a chance to participate.

The basis of the Law Day is an interactive Mock Trial with the students filling in the roles of Barrister, solicitor, Witnesses, Court clerk, Courtroom sketch artist, and jury members.

The participating schools are also invited to enter an inter-school mock trial competition run in the real Court Room setting of the Limerick Courthouse. The mock trial is overseen by a real Judge in all her/his finery and the winning school will receive a trophy to mark their success.

No need to worry though, TYL can guarantee that nobody will get arrested, fined, or sent to prison it is all based around having fun and learning the intricacies of Irish law.

Their team consists of a variety of local practicing solicitors, barristers, and members of An Garda Siochana. All of the teamwork locally and the majority of them are even Limerick schooled.

TYL provides an enriching learning environment that aspires to help students gain legal prospectus with a view to what studying law in their future could entail.
