Treaty United FC invites supporters, families and the wider community to the Markets Field to celebrate Pride Weekend on Friday and Saturday, June 13 and 14

Treaty United FC is proudly inviting supporters, families and the wider community to the Markets Field this weekend as the club celebrates Pride Month and reaffirms its commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.

Making the announcement, Treaty United said, “As a club, we are dedicated to ensuring that football is a safe, supportive space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We strive to make the Markets Field a place where everyone feels valued, respected and part of the Treaty United family. To mark Pride Month, we are hosting a Pride-themed double-header weekend, promising an exciting celebration of football, community and diversity.”

Pride Weekend at Markets Field kicks off on Friday, June 13 at 7:45 pm when fourth place Treaty take on third place Bray in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division as our Senior Men’s Team host Bray Wanderers. The celebrations continue on Saturday, June 14 at 3 pm, as the Senior Women’s return to SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division action when they host Wexford FC.

Both fixtures will take place at the Markets Field and will feature an array of additional entertainment for all ages, including family-friendly activities and a showcase of visual art by talented local artists — Erin O’Olooney, Arwen Duggan, and Alice Harrold — presenting works from their recent LSAD graduate exhibition.

The club said, “At Treaty United FC, we believe that football is more than just a game — it is a platform to bring people together, celebrate diversity and promote the values of inclusivity, respect and community that are central to our mission.

“We warmly invite everyone to join us this weekend for what promises to be a memorable celebration of Sport and Pride.”

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
