Both Treaty United senior teams in action in the Markets Field this weekend
With both the Treaty United Senior Men’s and Women’s sides in action, it is a great opportunity for young boys and girls across the region to come see what top flight football in the country looks like
There is another weekend of double action at the Markets Field on the way as both Treaty United Senior Men’s and Women’s teams are at home this coming weekend

Limerick’s spiritual footballing home, the Markets Field, will see senior soccer action from Treaty United on consecutive days.
First up, it’s Tommy Barrett’s Senior Men’s team who host Finn Harps FC at 7.45PM on Friday night in an SSE Airtricity First Division league game. That’s followed on Saturday at 3PM when Sean Russell’s Senior Women’s Team will kick off their Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup campaign when they host non-league Ferns United FC.
The Senior Men’s team will be in action for the third time in just 7 days as they follow up back-to-back draws with Dundalk (away last Friday) and Wexford (home on Monday) with the visit of the Donegal side. A late Mark Walsh goal rescued an away point at League leaders, Dundalk, after a fine performance from Tommy Barrett’s side.
Monday night saw his side turn in another really good performance at the Markets Field but Treaty were unable to turn a dominant display into a victory as they were held scoreless by the visitors. The set of results meant Treaty consolidated their play-off position in the League table.
With the games coming thick and fast at this stage of the season, Friday’s fixture is an important one in the race for play-off positions. Finn Harps come into the game on the back of an excellent result last Monday night as they inflicted the first defeat of the season on Dundalk in Ballybofey. The sides have met twice already this season, with Treaty emerging victorious on both occasions, a 3-1 win in the Markets Field in February and a 2-0 victory in Finn Park in May.
It will be a case of deja vu for Sean Russell’s Senior Women’s side on Saturday afternoon as Wexford non-league side, Ferns United, visit the Markets Field for the second season in a row for the first round of the Sports Direct Women’s FAI Cup. Last season, Treaty United ran out comfortable winners to advance to the second round.

Sean Russell’s squad come into Saturday’s game on the back of an excellent away 2-1 win against Bohemians in Dalymount Park in the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division. A cracking Katie Lawlee injury time winner added to a Bohs O.G. as Treaty recovery from the concession of an early goal.
With both the Senior Men’s and Women’s sides in action, it is a great opportunity for young boys and girls across the region to come see what top flight football in the country looks like. As a club, Treaty United wants to promote equal opportunity for all boys and girls in the region and give them the chance to play top flight football for their local club. In line with this strategy, all former grassroots clubs from the senior men’s and women’s players are being offered a number of complimentary adult tickets while youths from these clubs are being offered free tickets for this weekend’s games.
So, get yourself down to the Markets Field this weekend and support your local senior soccer club and avail of this special offer to introduce the youth of the region to League of Ireland football and inspire the next generation of players and fans. You’d never know, it could be the start of a lifelong relationship.
