Limerick’s Trevor Morrissey to paddle for Parkinson’s with River Shannon source-to-sea challenge
Trevor Morrissey is to take on a source-to-sea challenge in aid of Parkinson’s Ireland Midwest by paddling the River Shannon over a 10-day period

Limerick’s Trevor Morrissey is taking on a long-held ambition with his friend, Mike O’Sullivan, by making their way through the River Shannon from source-to-sea in a bid to raise funds for Parkinson’s Ireland.
The Dooradoyle man will be joined by his friend, Mike, from Quin, as the pair will paddle Ireland’s longest river starting in County Cavan and facing a gruelling 10-day challenge as they canoe and camp their way to the sea.
Trevor takes on the challenge for Parkinson’s Ireland Midwest Branch in memory of his mother and all those fighting the condition.
Writing on iDonate where he has a goal of €5,000, Trevor said, “I am taking this opportunity to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s Ireland Midwest Branch. Throughout every mile, I will be thinking of my mom and the many people I know fighting this condition. They face a daily battle with immense courage, truly taking life one day at a time.”
By supporting Trevor’s fundraiser, every euro raised will help the Midwest Branch of Parkinson’s Ireland continue providing essential services and support networks for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, and carers.
Parkinson’s Ireland was founded in 1987 and has a range of national and local services throughout the country. These services include their freephone Parkinson’s nurse helpline, online classes and local in-person exercise classes and support groups.
With €3,987 raised toward his initial goal of €5,000 as of June 11, 2026, Trevor is grateful to all those who have supported his challenge so far, saying, “Thank you for your generosity. Your support will keep us paddling when the waters get rough!”
