Tutorial College celebrates 40 years of academic excellence as the institution lives up to the ethos “dream big, work hard, see the results”

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, the family-run Tutorial College, located in the heart of Limerick City, was established with a commitment to academic excellence catering for full-time 5th year, 6th year students, and Repeat Leaving Certificate students of all levels and abilities.
As well as offering full-time education, Tutorial College offers a range of revision courses and grinds designed to support part-time students preparing for both leaving and junior certificate exams. Tutorial College concerns itself with the total development of each individual student, caring for him/her in living and growing as much as in study and learning.
Currently managed by John O’Halloran and his wife Fiona, Tutorial College has built a strong reputation for its student-focused approach. The college’s philosophy centres around guiding each student towards reaching their full potential in a supportive and caring environment.
The business is a second generation business as it was passed down to John by his parents John O’ Halloran Sr and his wife Margaret.

Reflecting on the college’s roots, John said, “Here at Tutorial, our friendly and approachable staff offer full commitment to students and parents in helping them achieve their goals. Over the past 34 years we have assisted students in obtaining outstanding results in a personal and caring environment.
“Tutorial is an independent second-level college with a unique perspective. Not only do we expect our students to try their very best in everything they do, we also expect ourselves to do likewise.”
The success students experience at Tutorial College is created on a foundation of hard work and dedication shared between the students, parents, and educators lending to the college’s tagline reflects their mission to empower students, “Dream big, work hard, see the results.”
The College’s primary aim is to provide the expertise and guidance necessary so that each student, irrespective of ability, can achieve his/her potential. John adds, “From experience, we know this will not be achieved by simply putting pressure on students to do the impossible. Instead, the college believes in forging strong relationships with its students.

“We listen to our students’ goals and we listen to their parents’ views; then we pinpoint their strengths, and from there we help them do the very best for themselves.”
Exams play an important part of the Tutorial College experience, but the college also holds itself to the standards it expects of its students as it aims to improve and evolve over the years.
Fiona O’ Halloran said, “We fully appreciate that it is not just our students who should be tested on a regular basis, it is also the College itself. By continuously looking at our own performances and standards, we can develop and improve when and where required.”
Beyond exam preparation, the college also maintains strategic relationships with universities and institutes of education and technology across Ireland, Europe, and beyond. This commitment to building academic connections further enriches students’ opportunities and broadens their educational prospects.
