The graduations were particularly celebratory as three of the All-Ireland-winning hurling team were conferred with degrees from the University of Limerick’s Kemmy Business School.  Two further members of the team graduated on Tuesday last from the Faculty of Education and Health Science.  Sean Finn from Bruff, Tom Morrissey from Ahane and Pat Ryan from Doon were each conferred with Bachelor of Business Studies degrees today, while Gearoid Hegarty from St Patrick’s club  and Michael Casey from Na Piarsaigh in Limerick City graduated on Tuesday from the Faculty of Education and Health Sciences

UL President Professor Des Fitzgerald hosted a celebratory lunch for the players at Plassey House at the University of Limerick prior to the graduation ceremony.  “We are inordinately proud of these young men, who managed to maintain their elite level of fitness and dedication to the Limerick hurling team, while at the same time focusing on the females of their final year studies.  Either of these tasks would be enormous in itself, but we at the University of Limerick are so delighted for them to have achieved success at both in this momentous year in their lives.   We wish them continued joy and success in life after UL and will continue to follow with keen interest their successes on the field and off.

Graduates at the UL Summer Conferrings 2018, which took place last week, face “a more positive economic environment and a buoyant jobs market,”

The UL Conferring ceremonies 2018 comes just one week after the university hosted the Network Towards Unity and Health conference where delegates from 110 universities and 30 organizations from 50 countries from around the world were welcomed to Limerick to discuss Community Empowerment for Health. These delegates from a range of backgrounds including academia, health organisations, and local and civil societies, aiming to return to their own communities and implement opportunities for others to become more informed and influential by giving them the confidence, skills, resources, and power to shape and influence their own health.

The UL conferring ceremonies took place all last week and saw hundreds of delighted university students receive their degrees and move onto a brighter future in either pursuing a further degree or entering into the workforce.
