UL Open Days in 2015 attract nearly 9,000 students

UL Open Days in 2015 attract nearly 9,000 students from all over the country

Nearly 9,000 students from all over the country attended UL Open Days in 2015, this Thursday and Friday. The Open Days provided an opportunity for prospective students to talk to UL students and staff, explore the campus and its facilities, and find out more about courses of interest.

The Open Days are expected to attracted up to 300 schools from all across Ireland and are tailored towards Leaving Certificate and mature students who are interested in studying at UL. Parents, guardians and teachers are also invited on campus to sample life at university.

The Open Days featured a mix of taster sessions and short lectures to provide a feel for university life including presentations and demonstrations on all courses on offer at UL, stands for each course to help students find out what they need to know, staff was on hand to answer questions around the areas such as admissions, fees, scholarships, access, careers and cooperative education work experience. Tours of the University and UL’s campus village accommodation also took place.

UL’s graduate employment rate for 2014 primary degree holders is now 22 percent higher than the national average. A recent survey of UL’s 2014 graduates showed 92 percent are either employed or pursuing further study making UL the best University to study in. UL has been named “University of the Year 2015” in the Sunday Times Good University Guide, because of the institution’s leading position in graduate employability and strong research commercialisation.
