UL Trampoline

UL Trampoline and Gymnastics Club are home for acrobatic and gymnastic exercises on a trampoline as a recreation and/or sport.

Other UL Wolves such as UL Dance Society and UL Film Society showed their support for the event. Brazilian jiu-jitsu also accompanied the club in their “Rollathon.” Between 6 am and 7 am Sunday, there was a body positivity hour where trampolinists dressed “Nearly naked” in showing positivity and comfort amongst others.

They finished jumping on Sunday, February 23 at 6 pm after raising hundreds for Pieta House. The club has been raising money for the Irish Student Trampoline Open, one of the biggest student trampolining competition in Europe, which will be held in April in Galway.

They will be continuously fundraising for Pieta House between now and then. At the competition, the final donations will be calculated collectively amongst all 6 clubs in Ireland and the many others abroad. All profit and proceeds will go directly to Pieta House.

Pieta House now operates fifteen centres and five outreach service across Ireland. Pieta now employs over 270 therapists and administration staff, and the demand for our service is increasing.

One of the clubs first-year members, Mary, commented, “I had never done a bounce-a-thon for 24 hours’ event before, and it sounded like a lot of work at the start, but it was an unbelievable experience.

I found the time flew between jumping on trampolines, doing Zumba and just being with all the trampoline members – being in such proximity for such a long period, it was real team bonding the event as well. I enjoyed this unique event and for such a good cause, and will do a 24-hour bounce-a-thon again!”
