Universal Children’s Day takes place on Thursday November 20 and in honour of that, Clionas Foundation would like to take the opportunity to dedicate this entire week to celebrating all of the children that they have been able to help, those that are still fighting their battles and the children that have sadly passed away.

Clionas Foundation is a charitable organisation was founded in 2007 to fill a great need, providing financial assistance to families from Ireland who has children undergoing long-term medical treatment for critical illness.

One of the things that they have noticed over the years is that when people talk about sick children they only ever seem to refer to the children in regards to their illnesses and never about who the child actually is so all this week on their Facebook page Clionas Foundation are going to be sharing images of the children that they have been able to help along with little bits of information about them, their personalities and their hobbies– not their illness. They want to celebrate all of these amazing children. They are also asking all of the families that they have helped to release a balloon in honour of their child / children, to video or take pictures of it and tweet it or tag it and post it to the Foundations Facebook page at www.facebook.com/clionasfoundation.

As well as celebrating the wonderful children that they have been able to help over the years we are also hoping that by doing this they can raise awareness for the work that Cliona’s Foundation does all over Ireland. They will be asking supporters to donate €2 by texting CLIONA to 50300 and are hoping that you will ask your friends and family to do the same. Cliona’s Foundation currently has 16 families waiting for funding and is continuing to receive at least 2 new applications for funding a week. If they are going to be able to support these families they need to raise €50,000 between now and Christmas.

Phone: 1800-90-10-90, Text Cliona to 50300.
