University of Limerick Orchestra Summer Prom Concert

The University of Limerick Orchestra would like to invite you to their Summer Prom Concert this May the 9th in the University Concert Hall. The ULO will be a performing a wide selection of works, including Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto in Bb Major. With featured soloist is Micheal Dooley who has been a teacher in the local community for many years.

ULO will also be performing the Premiere of a Fantasy Overture: In the Forest, this work is composed by local musician Sophie Butler. Sophie is the past pupil of Laurel Hill Colaiste and is now studying in Cork School of Music. They will also performing the overwhelming work Night on Bare Mountain by Mussorgsky, the uplifting Maritana Overture by Wallace and the well known film music of The Magnificent Seven.

ULO guest ensembles this year are the Limerick School of Music and the Redemptorists Centre of Music. Both of these fantastic educators will join forces to display the talent of their students by playing some fantastic pieces.

UCH Orchestra

Richard is a presenter, producer, songwriter and actor. He was named the Limerick Person of the Year (2011) and won an online award at the Metro Éireann Media and Multicultural Awards (2011) for promoting multi-culturalism online. Richard says that the ilovelimerick.com concept is very much a community driven project that aims to document life in Limerick. So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
