Free Peformance from the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra from USA

University of Mary Washington LimerickThe University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra from USA are Touring Ireland.  The 29 piece Orchestra shall be performing in St Mary’s Church of Ireland Cathedral, Limerick on Monday 2nd  March at 8pm. Admission is free to enjoy a very pleasant evening of a wide variety of orchestral  music.

University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra are in their 42 year and they are one of the most successful organisations on campus. With approximately 90 members from the student body and community. The orchestra is highly respected for its musicianship and its mission to support students and the Fredericksburg community.

The Orchestra have been honoured with National Awards, Television, Celebrity Series, Scholarships and Music for the Community. They were honoured with the America Prize as being one of the top 9 college orchestras in the country. In 2012 UMW President received a national award from the College Orchestra Directors Association for his support of the orchestra program at UMW.

The Celebrity Series is an annual event that features world-class artists performing with the UMW Philharmonic orchestra. They are the only orchestra that host such a programme. It is now in its 10th year and the first to perform on the programme was renowned Broadway maestro Marvin Hamlisch. May 2009, the Philharmonic shared the stage with the legendary conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, Keith Lockhart.

So join the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic Orchestra at 8pm in the St Mary’s Cathedral for an evening of fantastic of music. Come show your support for this renowned American orchestra. This is a free event and is not to be missed.
