Both local charities are based in Rosbrien, Limerick City, and work to support women affected by violence and abuse.

ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services supports women and children affected by domestic abuse, and Rape Crisis Midwest supports both women and men who have survived acts of sexual violence against them.

“This Valentine’s Day, ADAPT and Rape Crisis Midwest are joining forces to highlight the fact that one in five women in Ireland have experienced some form of domestic abuse or sexual violence,” said ADAPT Director Monica McElvaney.

Rape Crisis Executive Director, Miriam Duffy commented, “Rape Crisis Midwest is very happy to participate in this V-Day event with ADAPT to raise awareness of the issues of sexual violence and domestic abuse.”

The V Day Coffee Morning in aid of ADAPT Domestic Abuse Services and Rape Crisis Midwest takes place at Green Yard Café, Punch’s Cross, Limerick City, on Wednesday 14 February from 10 am to 12 noon, when tea, coffee, and baked goodies will be served.

There will also be a raffle taking place on the day, with some amazing prizes to be won! If any businesses would like to donate a raffle prize, please email Lorraine on [email protected] or call 061-412354.
