The team at the recently opened Verizon offices on Henry Street announced as the Limerick City Tidy Towns’ bi-monthly award winner for July-August 2024
Limerick City Tidy Towns’ bi-monthly award for July-August 2024 has gone to the team at the recently opened Verizon offices at the former Bishops Palace on Henry Street.
Maura says “While we ordinarily give our awards to smaller businesses in the city, we couldn’t overlook the Verizon team who recently sent a 40-strong team of volunteers to help clean-up the streets of Limerick, and of course for the beautiful restoration of the historic Bishops Palace building on Henry Street, where their offices are currently based.
“This beautiful landmark building which had been vacant for many years has been sensitively interlinked with 1BQ, the striking new 8 storey glass tower along Limerick’s Waterfront where Verizon’s new Global Hub will be based.
“Additionally, we are delighted that the 1BQ complex has been built to incorporate the principles of Near Zero Emissions Buildings (NZEB) and is designed to meet the highest standards of energy saving. 1BQ also offers electric car charging facilities and 100 bicycle spaces with changing facilities, supporting active and sustainable travel in the city”.
US Telecommunications Giant Verizon was formed in the early 2000’s and is now one of the world’s leading providers of technology and communications services, offering voice, data and video services and solutions to consumers and businesses.
Verizon has had a base in Dublin since 2006 and has now expanded its presence in Ireland by creating a Global Hub for services in Limerick, employing up to 400 people.
Verizon is Limerick City Tidy Town’s fourth winner for 2024 and will be in with a chance to be their Overall Winner for 2024 at next year’s annual event, along with the Adapt Shop on Parnell Street, who won the January-February award. Thompsons Funeral Home who won in March-April and The Spitjack on Bedford Row who won the May-June award.
