EVA International is among 13 European cultural organisations partnered in a 4 year-long Creative Europe project titled ‘Magic Carpets’. Magic Carpets is a platform for emerging artists to travel to partner organisations to research and to implement new projects together with local partners. More than 50 artistic and cultural interventions in different European and neighbouring cities will take place over the 4 year period.
For the first phase of the Magic Carpets project, EVA will host Portuguese artist Vera Mota in Limerick through the month of June. Mota is an artist who primarily works in sculpture and performance, whose works were recently exhibited at Fundação de Serralves. The artist will work with EVA Curatorial Scholar, Sara Dowling, to develop a presentation of the residency outcomes toward the end of the residency.
Matt Packer, director of EVA International, said: “EVA International is delighted to be a partner of the Magic Carpets programme, which will allow us to share in the facilitation and production of art projects with other like-minded organisations across Europe. We’re delighted to welcome Vera Mota to Limerick for the first time.”
Kaunas Biennial is leading the Creative Europe platform titled “Magic Carpets” which involves 13 cultural organisations from EU and candidate countries. Together with the twelve partners, EVA will provide a platform for emerging artists and curators.
