Discover art and objects in the Hunt Museum’s new online gallery and build a Virtual Museum through their brand-new online workshops for schools.

The Hunt Museum preserves and exhibits the original artifacts gathered, over a lifetime, by John and Gertrude Hunt and known as the Hunt Collection. The Museum also displays its own collections, as well as visiting exhibitions of Local, National, and International significance with the overall aim of maximising their cultural and educational potential for the people of Limerick and Ireland.

Participants can explore and interact with virtual galleries filled with 3D objects and images from three Limerick museum collections. They can practice analytic, creative, and digital skills while they work together to create their own museum galleries and discover the role of the museum to educate and inspire.

Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic the Hunt Museum is as driven as ever in bringing the people of Limerick exciting, cultural, and educational content to pass the time during these difficult times. The Hunt Museum is determined to keep the adults and children of Limerick enjoying education through their online interactive workshops.

The workshop takes place on the free online platform Mozilla Hubs and requires no software downloads or sign up. To take part in this wonderful experience you will need a device (mobile, tablet, laptop, or desktop PC) and a strong WIFI connection.

The design of the Virtual Museum Workshop is simple and will allow people to truly enjoy the experience without having to worry about it being too difficult to navigate or to control. The Hunt Museum has made it easy for you to just sit from the comfort of your own home, or school, and enjoy the experience of the Hunt Museum.

The workshop will be available from November 4 to December 18.

This workshop is brought to you by The Three Muses and is a joint education initiative between The Hunt Museum, Limerick Museum and Limerick City Gallery of Art.

For further information, and to book a free Virtual Museum Workshop for your school or group, please contact the Hunt museum.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
