Vistra Corporate Services Ireland has raised more than €3,000 for Milford Care Centre following a staff-led fundraising intiative combining a workplace clear-out with charitable donations.

Vistra has supported Milford Care Centre over the years through bi-annual volunteering events, their recent fundraiser began when unused IT equipment and office furniture were set aside for donation.

One of the Vistra Corporate Services Ireland team members, Samantha Danaher, made contact with a number of charities, including The Wheelchair Society who collected a large quantity of the equipment and expressed their gratitude for the donation.

Following this initial donation, a scheme was introduced allowing staff to take additional items in exchange for charitable donations, which raised a total of €3,425, with Vistra’s support allowing the fundraiser to proceed internally.

Samantha explained how, in her late mother’s memory, the funding was donated to Milford Care Centre. “Mom knew about us donating, before she died I closed the iDonate. All that was left to do was the cheque presentation.

“ I had decided to do it in honour of Bridget Danaher, but she was still alive when all this was going on, and it was only when we were actually planning to do the cheque presentation that she had just passed.”

The organiser said the initiative became especially meaningful as it coincided with personal family circumstances. Samantha said, “ It was very special, and it’s going to such a wonderful organisation and we were very happy to do it.

“And mom was absolutely thrilled and very, very chuffed because Milford came down. Anne Marie, who’s the head of fundraising, actually came down and met mom, and she thanked her and made a fuss of her, and mom was so chuffed.”

Speaking about the donation, Milford Care Centre said, “Thank you to everyone in Vistra Corporate Services for supporting Milford Care Centre. Your generosity helps us continue providing essential care to our community.”
