VTOS Art Craft Design Open Day 2016‏ is set for May 26.

Art, Craft and Design students undertaking the VTOS (Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme) programme at the new state of the art Further Education and Training Centre, Kilmallock Road Campus, will hold a one-day exhibition of their artwork on Thursday, May 26, from 10 am to 2 pm.

The VTOS Art Craft Design Open Day 2016‏ will showcase a range of paintings, drawings, crafts, designs and photography and represents just a selection of the total creative output of the students over the past year.

Commenting on VTOS Art Craft Design Open Day 2016, Course Leader, Jayne Foley, said, “It’s exciting for us to show this work as it’s so important for any artist to have their work viewed by the public. It offers new beginnings for budding artists. In essence, a public viewing is the final element in the creative process and this gives the students the chance to gauge that reaction.” Jayne continued, “We start out the course in September and the students develop their skills through equal measures of hard work and encouragement, both from the staff and from each other. At the end of the term we showcase some of the work and this allows others who may be interested in the course to see what we are about.”

The course affords students the opportunity to begin on the road to working in the creative industries and can significantly boost their success rate in moving on to third level Art Craft Design courses. This September, the course will introduce an Enterprise module in the area of art and crafts which will provide students with even greater possibilities to promote and market their work.

The exhibition takes place in the Art Studio at the Further Education and Training Centre, Kilmallock Road Campus. There will also be an opportunity for the public to view the newly refurbished former St Enda’s building that is now a vibrant, creative learning hub.

Anyone interested in VTOS Art Craft Design Open Day 2016‏ is encouraged to come along to see the work, and the building, and to talk to current students. Those interested in enrolling for the course, will be provided with more information on the day, as well as some light refreshments!
