Wickham Way has been given a colourful makeover and has plenty of space for their vendors and patrons
Wickham Way reopens on Saturday, September 4 and will be hosting an amazing Farmers market every Saturday from 9am to 2pm.
Located on the junction of Thomas Street and Wickham Street, the market is in an ideal location for those out and about in the city during the weekend.
Eva Clarke, organiser of Wickham Way said, “Following on from an unbelievably successful Christmas event we are excited to get going again. We’ve given the place a serious facelift, it’s brighter than ever. The atmosphere is fun and positive, you won’t want to leave. The smells from the freshly prepared food will tempt anyone to stay and eat. Sit down at our picnic tables and enjoy the festival atmosphere.”
Eva added, “It’s a gorgeous building with two warehouses and I just knew we could do something really interesting with it. After the lockdown we just decided we would open the gates because it’s such a lovely space for the people of Limerick to use, right in the city centre. Our aim is to involve people who are creating their own things as much as possible. The community is so enthusiastic which really helps. People have somewhere to sell their wares now and there are so many gorgeous things out there. It’s good fun and the people on Wickham Street have been so welcoming.”
Market officials have indicated Wickham Way will boast some 30 vendors consisting of artisan food vendors, hot food vendors, farm produce such as eggs, meat, honey, milk, cheese along with some talented artists and crafters. The vendor line up will change and increase every week with slots already booked.
Wickham Way Farmers Market guarantees the community a local place to shop weekly while enjoying some live music, getting breakfast/lunch and even a sweet treat from their bakeries. This is the real deal and offers people a chance to purchase directly with the artisans, crafters, and farmers while knowing what they are purchasing is fresh and made locally.
This market was developed to promote agriculture, offering consumers access to farmer’s fresh fruit and vegetables while also providing the community a place to gather and support local vendors. This market will put Limerick on the map and give people a reason to come into town again.
Wickham Way is currently working on plans to open additional days of the week, including evening markets and a larger scale Christmas Market.
All current COVID-19 protocols as set out by the Health Department will be in place at the market.
Wickham Way are always looking for new vendors to join them and you can contact them on social media if you want further information on joining the line-up.
Join over 30 local vendors and support your local Farmers Market.
