Matea Marzic is the owner of an amazing home in Adare, Co. Limerick as she and her husband, Dino, were in the room when their ticket was drawn first in hugely exciting ‘Win a Home in Adare’ fundraising draw.
The woman who has been living in Limerick for the past 8 years with her husband Dino, was the first ticket out of the drum at the closing ceremony at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel & Spa on Sunday, August 18.
The surprised couple were in the room when the ticket was drawn and they were in shock when they realised they won an apartment in “such a stunning location”.
“I still can’t believe it,” said Mattea, adding “It’s such a beautiful apartment in such a stunning location. We have been driving past it every day for the past 8 years. I saw the advert for the raffle on social media and just said why not.”
The draw to win a home in picturesque Adare started last April with Club Limerick/ Limerick GAA raising over €1.16 million through ticket sales during the four-and-a-half-month campaign.
“I just want to thank everybody who supported us and bought tickets since we launched the fundraiser. The reaction in Limerick and all over the country as well as across the world has been fantastic,” said Sean Scanlan, Chairperson of the WIN A HOME IN ADARE committee and Club Limerick.
Proceeds from the draw are going towards the new Limerick GAA Centre of Excellence at Crecora, just off the M20 beside Adare.
The proposed Limerick GAA Centre of Excellence will consist of 10 full-size pitches, dressing rooms, a gymnasium, medical rooms, video analysis facilities, a dining area along with offices and meeting rooms. Club Limerick/Limerick GAA are also making donations from the draw to two wonderful organisations in the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation and the Mid West Simon Community.
“We are at the start of something special as we develop and build this new centre of excellence. We have big plans for more exciting events and fundraisers in the future so please continue to support us. We really appreciate it,” added Sean.
Tickets were bought in all four provinces and across continents with tickets bought in Europe, Asia, Australia, and America and in numerous other places around the world.
