Women’s Shed Limerick have announced that chairpersons Sinead O’Beirne-Brinn and Eimear Scully will step down from their roles in December 2024.
In a heartfelt message, the group shared that the decision comes amid personal commitments, including career advancements, health priorities, and family responsibilities.
Posting the announcement on social media, the group said, “After much thought, we’ve reached this decision due to growing demands on our time and energy, including career advancements, health considerations, family responsibilities, and other personal projects.”
The pair have worked with Women’s Shed Limerick over the past two years making it the safe and welcoming space it is today.
They said, “Over the past two years, we’ve had the privilege of building the Shed into a supportive, welcoming space where women from all backgrounds could connect, make friends, and feel at home.
“This journey has been deeply fulfilling, and we are immensely proud of what the Women’s Shed has become. Your friendship, encouragement, and support have been essential in helping us bring this vision to life, and we are so grateful for every bit of it.”
Since its foundation in 2022, Women’s Shed Limerick quickly grew into a cherished gathering space for women from across Limerick, with more than 200 members expressing their interested within its first two months seeking registrations.
“We are immensely proud of what the Women’s Shed has become,” wrote Sinead and Eimear as they expressed their gratitude to the support they have received from the community over the past two years.
Designed to be a safe and welcoming environment, Women’s Shed Limerick offers members opportunities to participate in projects and discussions that foster mental, physical, and social well-being. It is a place where practical skills and knowledge are freely shared, helping members stay active and engaged while building a support network.
In their farewell message, Sinead and Eimear gave special thanks to Marguerite, the Shed’s treasurer, who has been a vital part of the team from the very beginning.
