A mini collection of Limerick writer Siabh Bourke Maguire’s work has been compiled into a zine designed by LSAD print student Caoilfhinn Geary and graphic design student Jodie Devaney, titled ‘Words I’ve Written Down.’
A fundraising night for the launch of the ‘zine’ – a self-published print-work – was hosted by Siabh, Caoilfhinn and Jodie at The Commercial on Thursday, May 5.
Poetry and print, plus music from local talents Citrus Fresh and 40Hurtz was on show at the launch, and attendees donated to a charity of their choice at the door.
‘Words I’ve Written Down’ is the first physical copy of the works of poet Siabh, a final year Politics and Philosophy student at the University of Limerick who regularly shares her work on Instagram.
The zine features poetry from Siabh but is also a collaboration with two fantastic LSAD artists, Caoilfhinn and Jodie, creating an exciting publication for a good cause.
The zine was designed by Jodie and then printed using LSAD’s publication space by Caoilfhinn and Siabh, using a Risograph printer to give it a vibrant and distinctive appearance.
Available to purchase through the ‘Words I’ve Written Down’ Instagram for €10, all funds raised from the zine will be donated to the domestic violence service Women’s Aid.
There is a limited number of copies of the first pressing, so those interested in purchasing the zine should do so promptly. This is a great opportunity to get your hands on an amazing piece of work from three very special Limerick artists, for a very important cause.
“Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out so far, it has been overwhelming,” said writer Siabh Bourke Maguire.
