UL Drama Society Presents: Write or Wrong, a new take on the Irish Diaspora in London.

UL Drama Society’s newest production Write or Wrong will run from April 17-19 at the University of Limerick.

UL Drama Society Presents: Write or Wrong, a new take on the Irish Diaspora in London.
For the final production of the academic year, the University of Limerick’s Drama Society will be performing an original play, Write or Wrong.

Write or Wrong is written by the Society’s own Derek Mac Liam, a relatively new member of the society with a passion for stage performance. It is directed by Darragh O’Donnell, another enterprising new member of the team.

Write or Wrong will run for three nights from Tuesday 17th of April in the Johnathan Swift Theatre, in the Main Building, University of Limerick. Doors open 19:30 with the show commencing at 20:00.

The show’s story centres on a scenario familiar to many, as a group of Irish men and women try to make it big in London. Whilst the story focuses on the strained relationship between James and Maebh an ambitious young writer and aspiring actress respectively, there’s also a comical undertone courtesy of their half-witted, over-inquisitive neighbours. James is portrayed by one of UL Drama Society’s veterans, Cathal Moore, starring opposite Fiona Bergin, who will be sorely missed when she departs for the Gaiety in the coming semester.

The two are supported by Fiona Grimes as Eve, Maebh’s stern sister with her doubts about James, whilst Conor “Clocks” Clohessy brings the show’s antagonist to life, portraying the aptly named Judas. He is accompanied Keith (played by Brian Griffin), a plain-speaking Australian who provides some tongue-in-cheek humour whilst also attempting to provide a voice of reason.

The remainder of cast aptly serve in their roles to bring life and energy to the stage with their performances, truly carrying the show. The drive and ambition are there in ample amounts to round out another successful year for the Society.

A point of pride for the Society, the production is written, directed by and starring the Society’s own members, and is sure to be another hit.
