Two young girls, Olivia (11) and Julia (9) will make waves this April 2025 as they pledge to swim 5,000 metres each throughout the month in their first-ever fundraising challenge.
The Limerick sisters have will raise funds for Barnardos, a charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in Ireland.
The duo who share a passion for swimming are determined to complete their challenge in April while making a difference in the lives of children who are at need.
In a message on their iDonatepage, the sisters write, “This April we are swimming 5000 meters each to raise crucial funds for Barnardos, a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families here in Ireland.
“We hope you can make a donation to our fundraiser and we can’t wait to complete this challenge in April!”
Their father, Joe Morgan, who is a member of Limerick Search and Rescue, expressed his pride in their efforts. “I’m very proud of the two of them, and I love that it’s connected to the water,” he said, recognising both their commitment to the cause and their love for swimming.
Barnardos, which has been supporting children in need since the 1960s, applauded Olivia and Julia for their dedication. The charity shared a message to the fundraising page, saying, “Congratulations Olivia and Julia on your fantastic fundraising, and thank you so much for this amazing support of Barnardos! You are truly amazing! Well done!”
So far, the girls have raised an impressive €2,110 towards their €2,500 target, and donations will remain open until May 15, 2025, giving supporters more time to contribute to their incredible effort and donations can be made on their iDoante page.
The funds raised will contribute to Barnardos’ mission to help vulnerable children achieve their full potential, regardless of their circumstances. As part of their vision for 2027, the organisation aims to expand its services and continue its trauma-informed approach to support children and families in need.
