Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board launch Youth Work Plan 2018-2021

Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board officially launched its Youth Work Plan 2018-2021 at Thomond Park Stadium on Thursday, May 31.

The plan aims to make sure the authority succeeds in its responsibilities to support the provision, coordination, administration and assessment of youth work services in the Limerick and Clare region, a function given to it under the Education and Training Board Act of 2013.

Speaking to ilovelimerick at the launch of the of the Youth Work Plan 2012-2021, Limerick City Youth Officer Cora Foley said, “We are really excited to launch the Youth Work Plan on behalf of the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. The plan is really about delivering high-quality youth work provision – that’s really important to us. We are looking forward to working for the next couple of years on the plan”.

Speaking to ilovelimerick about the Youth Work Plan 2012-2021, Limerick County Youth Officer Jackie Dwane said, “We are really, really excited about the plan. It’s been an accumulation of work over the past year with all of our stakeholders, and we think we have come up with some really great themes that we drew out of all those consultations”.

Minister of State Pat Breen, who officially launched the Youth Work Plan 2018-2021, said, “It is very important that people like myself, and people in other positions, look after the youth of tomorrow and ensure that the world is in safe hands”.

Development of the Youth Work Plan 2018-2021 began in 2017 with a wide-ranging consultation process that engaged young people and adult volunteers from across the region, staff and management of youth service organisations and the Youth Work Committee of Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board.

The Youth Work Plan 2018-2021 represents a shared commitment from all youth work organisations to the ongoing development of this important and valuable intervention. The plan is firmly focused on ensuring that the young people in Limerick and Clare communities get the best experiences that can be provided across the Mid-West.

Established on July 1, 2013, Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board is the state education and training authority for the Limerick and Clare region in Ireland. It is one of 16 statutory regional education authorities established by the Education and Training Boards Act 2013. The authority delivers educational services to over 34,000 students and learners annually. It also employs 2,500 staff across the Mid-West.
