A group of Youth Work trainees celebrated a year of achievement, growth, and dedication at the first-year graduation of the Youth Work Traineeship with Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board (LCETB) on Thursday.

The trainees combined study with hands-on placements in youth organisations across Limerick and Clare, gaining the skills, confidence, and compassion needed to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

Speaking at the event, Martin expressed pride in the group’s journey, saying the group have shown dedication and drive throughout their course.

He said, “This group has approached every opportunity with courage, creativity, and commitment. Their dedication and drive show the real difference youth workers can make in young people’s lives.”

Tributes were made to LCETB senior management, the Youth Work Team, and placement supervisors in local youth organisations, whose mentoring and support were vital to the trainees’ development.

Michelle, Coordinator of the Youth Work Traineeship, highlighted the group’s resilience, creativity, and dedication, noting that the trainees have grown not only as professionals, but as compassionate, community-minded individuals ready to take their skills into further education, employment, and youth-focused roles.

LCETB congratulated the graduates and expressed confidence that their passion, dedication, and values will continue to have a lasting positive impact on young people and communities across Limerick and Clare.

The 11-month full-time traineeship equips learners with the knowledge and skills essential for a career in Youth Work. Participants learn about the issues affecting young people and gain insights into the challenges faced by communities across different social settings. This programme is delivered in educational and workplace settings with a minimum 30 per cent work placement.
