Castleconnell Street Feastival 2019 Celebrates Unity and Family

Castleconnell Village is set to become one giant picnic on Sunday, May 5, and are inviting all locals to come out on the street to celebrate unity and togetherness. The Castleconnell Street Feastival 2019 is in conjunction with the new national community weekend The Big Hello’s Street Feast. The organisers, LOVE Castleconnell, promise however that it will be much more than just a celebration of food.

Kicking off at 12 noon, there will be food provided by local artisan vendors. There promises to be music, competitions, face painting, special announcements and lots of surprises. Organisers are encouraging everyone to bring a dish, a picnic, a chair, a musical instrument, or whatever they wish to enjoy the day!

Nicky McNamara from LOVE Castleconnell explains how, “Castleconnell has experienced huge growth in recent years, and we thought what better way to celebrate the community than run a Street Feast, or a Feastival if you like. Taking a moment to break bread together – this is a perfect way for people to meet and get to know each other. There will be something for all the family!”

There will be competitions and raffles with prizes that include Afternoon Tea from the Castle Oaks House Hotel and Estate, hampers and gift vouchers.

Tara Hartigan, the founder, said, “LOVE Castleconnell is a new initiative set up by the local community for the local community. Castleconnell has a rich architectural, cultural, fishing and sporting heritage, and we want to encourage locals and visitors to share our village story.”

LOVE Castleconnell, is a voluntary, community organisation, founded by residents Tara Hartigan, Nicky McNamara, Angela Dempsey, Deirdre Ryan and Eamonn McQuade.  The aim of the group is to encourage tourists and residents alike to Live, Own, Visit and Enjoy the scenic village of Castleconnell, including its riverside walks, rich heritage, history, artistic and musical offerings.
