Dinner for Damo promises to be an amazing night for a great cause

Damien O’Shaughnessy, a friend, colleague and well-known member of the Munster hospitality community is currently undergoing some serious health issues that have, unfortunately, prevented his ability to work for the foreseeable future. Damo, as he affectionately known, is not only the father of a young family, but he is a man who has eagerly helped his community on several occasions and is now in need of assistance.

His friends have organised a dining event in his honour and this will also create a chance to come together and support one of their own. What makes the event even more special is that some of the best chefs are gathering to play a huge role in this event for a man who is not only a colleague but a friend. It is highly unlikely that all of these chefs will ever again cook in the same kitchen, at the same time.

The tasting menu on the night will include some gorgeous, locally sourced dishes such as pickled quail egg with celery salt, pork scratching Jerusalem artichoke soup, seared scallops, pork belly, Irish beef & blood orange sorbet to name a few.

This impressive selection of food will be cooked by a brilliant line-up of chefs including Denis Cregan from Master Chefs, Peter Jackson from the Armada Hotel, Derick Fitzpatrick of East Rooms UL, Noel Heaney from Wood and Bell, Anthony O’Rourke of AnnaCarriga, Giai Michael from House Limerick and Ollie Kearny of Rene Cusack’s product development.

Liam Murrell, who is on the organising panel for the event and is a former colleague of Damien’s told I Love Limerick that ‘it’s great to see the Irish sense of community that is so well publicised abroad first hand. This event is hugely important not only for Damien but for the hospitality industry itself, most of the best chefs in the region are coming together to support one of their own, it’s a beautiful thing. We, as a community, can show our support to Damien by letting him know we are here for him throughout his forthcoming fight and that he is not facing the worry and pressure alone.”

Tickets for the event cost €70 per person and this will include the tasting menu, a glass of bubbles on arrival, wine with your meal, live entertainment, a DJ and late bar. Dinner for Damo promises to be an amazing event and will take place at AnnaCarriga Estate, Killaloe on Wednesday, March 7 at 6.45 pm. All are welcome to come to a great event for an important cause.
