Winter Craft Fair
December 8, 2023 @ 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Winter Craft Fair being held on Friday 8th December in in the gym, College of Further Education and Training, O’Connell Avenue Campus, Limerick; time 1 pm – 6 pm.
A showcase of handmade crafts by community education participants
The Winter Fair is taking place on the 8th of December in the College of FET, O Connell
Avenue Campus, V94 W651. From 1pm to 6pm.
Following the success of the “Art meets Craft in the Coach House” exhibition in The People’s
Museum during May 2022 and the open day in O’Connell Avenue Campus, suggestions were
made that a craft fair of learners work would be a wonderful event to showcase and
validate the quality and variety of art and crafts being produced by learners attending
classes being run by community-based adult education providers across the city.
The Limerick Community Education Network, Limerick and Clare Education and Training
Board and Learning Limerick have partnered to support this idea and run a Winter Craft Fair.
After a hugely successful Fair in December 2022, we are joining together to showcase the
city’s learners amazing skills.
Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board has a number of tutors who deliver courses
in the area of craft and these courses have been popular with learners. Tutors have
supported learners to develop and maintain these skills and one of the aims of the initiative
is to highlight the quality of work and celebrate the creative skills that are acquired through
community-based adult learning across the City. Learners will have an opportunity to not
only showcase their craft skills but also provide a space that allows them to sell their
creations if they so wish.
Details:
The event is free to attend and we would like to welcome members of the public, family
members and friends to attend. Tea / coffee with a festive bite will be available. The craft
fair will be advertised as a public event on social media and through traditional advertising
platforms, and posters will be distributed through community education providers, tutors
and learners.
All forms of crafts are welcome such as: knitting, crochet, woodwork, printmaking, ceramics,
jewellery, mosaic, decoupage, paintings, cards and other items.
