Pictured at the Ireland Smart Ageing Exchange (ISAX)  ISAX Ingenuity programme graduation programme is; Anne Connolly, Chief Executive ISAX, Antoinette Golden, Head of Seniors Banking, Bank of Ireland and Limerick participant Declan Walsh, creator of the climate control demonstration box.

The ISAX Ingenuity programme, supported by Bank of Ireland and Local Enterprise Offices and targeted mature entrepreneurs aged 50 plus. The 46 participants put their lifetime experience, talents and wisdom to good use during the 8 week, 16 module course and are now well equipped to start their own businesses.

The next 25 years will see the number of people aged over 65 years increase to between 1.3 and 1.4 million compared with 460,000 in 2006. Self-employment and entrepreneurship offers many potential benefits for individuals and the economy in general.

Anne Connolly, Chief Executive, ISAX said: “The programme has been a resounding success and participants have been buoyed by the support and confidence they have gained throughout the 8 weeks. Given that there is a growing population of healthy mature people with the skills and financial resources available to contribute to economic activity, it’s time for them to feel supported as they embark on an exciting future. We look forward to keeping an eye on what our 46 participants do next as they make the next step in their careers.”
