Ms Gay Limericks Fundraiser for Brothers of Charity Services

Ms Gay Limerick Michelle Brown was crowned Ms Gay Limerick in July 2016. Since then Michelle has been doing incredible charity work with Brothers of Charity Services. Ms Gay Limericks fundraiser takes place on Friday, February 24 at Strokers bar in aid of the Brothers of Charity Service.

Michelle is supporting Bawnmore, Brothers of Charity Services Limerick and spoke about the organisation at the competition. The Brothers of Charity Services is an international, voluntary religious organisation founded in Belgium in 1807, by Canon Peter Triest. The Brothers of Charity opened their first services in Ireland in 1883 to provide for mental health needs.

In 1938 they started to develop services for people with an intellectual disability and their families. These services grew steadily over the years so that today the Congregation is the largest provider of services for people with an intellectual disability in Ireland

The event will be held in Strokers bar upper William Street Limerick Friday, February 24 from 9:30pm to 12.30am.

“My uncle used to be a resident up there years ago, he had a life-limiting disease and he was only meant to live until he was about 12 but with their great help he ended up living until he was 26. So it was very good.” Michelle said, “He died in 1994 so I went up to the charity and told them I’d do anything to help them out.”

Michelle has put together an event to raise funds for the amazing charity. The event will be held in Strokers bar upper William Street Limerick Friday, February 24 from 9:30pm to 12.30am. The night will be a fun get together and a space to catch up with friends with a DJ, live music and games. Its €5 entry with live music from Andrea Doolin with DJ George spinning 80’s and 90’s tracks and a drag show with our local talent Elsie Cox, Fonda and Carma. Also, there will be a Raffle on the night with amazing spot prizes.
